In May 2024, as part of ongoing work to consider transnational repression in the UK, The Rights Practice produced a report which brings together conversations that took place in workshops in January and February 2024.

The January workshop, held by The Rights Practice with FairSquare, focused on the experience and needs of many in the diaspora and activist communities who are the primary targets of transnational repression by autocratic states. The February workshop, held by The Rights Practice with the Transnational Law institute at King’s College London considered the law and policy responses being implemented in the UK.

The meetings brought together leading members of diaspora communities, human rights activists from NGOs, legal scholars and government officials. We hope this report will help inform policy making in this complex area both within government and civil society.
