Joint Statement on Second Anniversary of UN OHCHR Assessment of the Uyghur Region

On 28 August 2024, The Rights Practice, along with 14 other NGOs, signed a joint statement to mark the second anniversary of the OHCHR’s publication of its Assessment of Human Rights Concerns in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.

December 2020. The Rights Practice recently surveyed Uyghurs living in the UK. Our survey revealed a community desperate for information about relatives in Xinjiang.
Criminal Law and Deprivation of Liberty in Xinjiang

In June 2021, we released a Working Paper on Criminal Law and Deprivation of Liberty in the XUAR. The paper delves into official statistics and Chinese law to try and understand how the criminal law is being used to detain Uyghurs.
